My recommendation would be to avoid those types of systems.
The only systems I know of that don't require a PC, are the Masso, which is pricey, and has a lot of poor reviews, and the chinese standalone controllers you can find on Ebay.
I have been using a Shark pendent system which allows me to load the Shark with G-code right from a thumb drive, no PC or software needed. I generate the G-code with Vectric.
I am thinking about building my own cnc and am researching plug and play (I am electrically handicapped) cnc controllers which have the same feature.
Does anyone have a recommendation for me.
Thanks in advance

Is there a reason that you don't want the file saved to a local drive? Reality is, most faster controllers require it. Centroid Acorn will load from a thumbdrive, but always copies to the "NC files" folder
