No, but it shouldn't have broken. I'd contact whoever you got it from and see if they'll replace it.
Can a stepper motor shaft be replaced, mine some how broke off.is it hard too do if can be done? thanks. Graham

thanks Ger, not good news, I,m sure the warranty is over. Dam it's upsetting, was running so good. oh well thanks.
Were you running with a solid coupling?
If so, a slight misalignment will cause it.

Ya made them my self, similar to dumpster's couplings, guess they aren't very good, say Al, who carries steppers in Canada, BC preferably. do you Know? Graham
I don't know of many that carry anything in stock, but Electromate (Ont) have always been in the servo/stepper field.

I thought the shafts were just pressed into the core. Have been looking at a 34 frame motor and wondering about pressing it back so I can install a handwheel to the back side. The motor side is pretty long. As I got several for free, I'm thinkng about sacrificing one to a hydraulic press.
I found novacon which is in Ont.There a bit cheaper. Any way I was wondering if I reversed the motor, has dual shaft, and just reversed the set up in mach 3 would that work until I get a new motor? it,ll probable be 2 weeks before I get one from any were I'm guessing, cant wait that long. Graham
The reverse shaft should work, either motor connections or Mach set up to reverse.
In the mean time I would look at Oldham coupling or Stainless Helical.

Thanks Al, I,ll give it a shot and see about couplings, just a pain ordering on the net, and no one around here sell's them, I don't know whats up with Canada, no manufacturing here at all seems. what in mach 3 would I need to change?
Helical you can get from R.G. Shelley Ont.

Should just need to change Ports & Pins -> Motor Output -> Dir LowActive setting for the axis in question.
Better way is Homing/Limits, and check "Reverse".

Thanks Al, which do you recommend ,#37? There's no price list, I found some on another site that were $40.00 each, hope there not that much. Graham

well I think I found out what happen, let me tell ya I'm so po ed at myself. I was getting chatter when the router was heading in one direction but not the other, so any way I tightened z axis that is attached to the y and guess I did it to much, The bearings made a groove deep in to the rails, almost through. I didn't relies it was so tight, I'm surprised the bearings are not toast but there ok. had to replace the y rails, almost done, I'll see what else I can screw up. Graham
