    Default Dino saw

Hi Ive been A long time reader but this is my first post, What a wealth of info you have here!
I teach engineering classes and we hop to get some CAM machines soon, Until then the kids print designs out full size onto paper and cut their project out with a scroll saw. They use PTC prodesktop, to import DXF files and modify the drawings. They have made a movie of the process and posted it on youtube.
    YouTube - liquidhandwash's Channel
Enjoy "Dino saw" the five foot plywood trex chasing kids around.
I will be teaching CAD/CAM next year and will be directing kids to cnczone. I will have to purchase a desktop laser cutter, and mill soon. any links or info would be great. Are the shark cnc router from carbatec any good? I had a look at one it was $6000 and it seem to do the job but looked a bit unfinished with wiring hanging off it and sharp edges everywhere. Ive got about 15,000 to spend and i could just blow it all on a Roland mill that they are pushing on to schools here but I think,it a nice machine just way over priced. and you have to use there tools. Also are the Chinese laser cutter a good buy, at around $6000 the price is good But as ive never seen one here I dont know weather to order one or not.
    any advice would be appreciated
    thanks

    good afternoon..

your right this sight has a wealth of info all for the taking and its free... there is also another thread that is a "share your art" that has even more. sometimes you have to wade through the junk to get the jewels but its worth it.

as for a starter cnc machine. I would incurage you to check out the Shopbot sight. they have great machine that are far above what you are talking about for less money. they also have the greatest forum with guys that are ready to help were they can. check them out at

    Talk ShopBot

I'm not associated with them, just a fan of their product. they will give you a machine that your program can grow into for sure. I'd have you look at their "Buddy" one to start with.

    Erik

Liquidhandwash. Youre class did a superb job on the TRex and the video. Congratulations.

Wish my woodworking class was as much fun when I was a kid.

    Default old car dxf

this is a rough draft but here is the dxf you requested woodspinner. it needs some tweaking to get it to work but i might lean towards possibly finding a better pic to go from. if i can help more in any way let me know and i will try my best.

P.S. Rene as far as i know there is no pisa dxf as of yet

Thank you very much, I see what I can do with it. And maybe see if I can come up with a better pic.
