Default Four foot wooden gear clock...advice please

    Hi Folks,

About four months ago I set off to build a wooden gear clock based on Brian Law's Clock #7. I have most of the parts made, and I'm starting to put the clock together. The last piece that will be cut is the clock dial. I'm toying around with a few different designs, and I'd like to get folks opinion on what dial looks the best.

The dial will be white, made out of Pine or Aspen, and the numbers or lines, will be cut separately, painted black, and inlayed in to the dial.

Attached are some pictures, please let me know what you think...comments and suggestions welcome.

    Thanks,
    Shawn

Shy away from the norm and make the dial 'oval' in shape, that would make it look real good.

Summat like this but as a chapter ring type face like the round ones you have posted ie nothing in the middle to reveal the works of the clock.

I've heard this before...hoping to have a normal heart beat by this weekend...hence the reason for holding off building the dial. :-)

After first reading this thread a month or so back, I too got bit by the clock bug.

I tackled Clock1 just to see if I could build one and make it run.
    I can report total success...
The dial is only temporary. I plan on a much nicer dial later.
I found his plans very will done and easy to follow.
I plan on doing a couple more of his designs later for family and friends.

    Default Italic!! YUK

Italic numerals look like they are falling over
I have two clocks with this style, and depending where the hands are they look awful.
