Default Please Help! Issue that cannot be resolved. Stalling Z Axis Issue

    Hello,

I have been running the same code for the past few years to make wood baseball bats on our CNC lathe, and we use Turn Master Pro Software to communicate with our lathe.

Recently we have been having issues in our process. For example, at different points in the process of cutting a bat, the Z axis motor will stop and stall out, then continue moments to 25 seconds later. While the Z axis motor is stalled, the program is still running on the computer, and once the z axis kicks back on it's starts cutting where the program says it is, rather than where it stalled out. Thus ruining our product that is in production.

We have troubleshooted many things. Lubed up our machine (and checked bearings and belts), ordered new a new Z axis motor, and ordered some new chips in our drive rack. Nothing has helped us find this solution.

We have been using this lathe for 9 years, and is the first time we have not been able to solve the issue. Right now we believe that it should not be the code, because it has worked for years, and nothing has changed on that. If you have any thoughts or advice please let share.

    Thank you in advance!

Sounds like a bad cable or drive or the signal to the drive, which also could be a cable

Also check the rails it rides on, if this is used quite a bit and the bearings are 9 years old that could be an issue. then the ball screw. Check for slop, it doesn't take much to get the alignment out and prevent the axis from moving. Check the slop at by grabbing as close as possible to the drive end of the motor.
