I started building a 3 axis CNC router maybe 7 yrs ago?
Anyhow I built the control panel using a gecko 3axis motor driver.
I remember using an old computer with a parallel port to the gecko.
But for the life of me I can't find a computer with a lpt1 port.
Is there a reputable supplier for stuff like this?
I think I was also running windows 97?
Thanks for reading

Often you will find the connector on the MB, it just needs the board connector, socket and ribbon cable to complete.

Hi,
not all parallel ports work for CNC. There is a specific standard that is required, and many parallel port cards don't support it....fine for a parallel port printer say, but not
for CNC.
There is a company, PMDX, that makes breakout boards and motion controllers specifically for Mach3 and Mach4, but also sold a parallel port board selected because
of its suitability for CNC use.

If you need to drive a Gecko G540, I'd suggest using a UC100 motion controller/USB adapter. It's better than using the parallel port in a computer, since it has some trajectory planning abilities embedded in it, and generates a faster pulse stream. It will plug into the 25-pin Centronics connector on the G540 and a USB port on any Windows computer. Get it here: https://cnc4pc.com/uc100-usb-motion-controller.html
