Computer for PLASMACAM machine

Buying a new plasmacam 4x4 cnc machine and was wondering what computer is needed to run the machine? I know it has to have a parallel port, but does it have to be 32 bit or 64 bit? PlasmaCam wants about $1000 for theirs, but I think I can do better myself.
Any suggestions?
