prototrak mx2

I have a prototrak mx2 and the crt died on it. Has anyone hooked up a computer running mach3 and a Ethernet Smoothstepper motion comtrol board?
If so what connector did you plug into on the mx2? Will the rs232 port on the back of the pendant work to run the x&y axis motors?
If anyone has hooked up something different could you let me know what you used?

I need to get this thing going work is piling up.

Old post, I know. But did you ever find a way to get this working with Mach3 or similar? I have a MX2 CNC that was missing the pendant, and can't seem to source one anywhere.
