power up issues viper 200s

hello all i have been lurking here for a while now. i have a supermax ycm 16 that i am converting to mach 3 using viper 200S on all three axis. got the board all wired up per the viper instructions. (i think) i have checked and double checked my conections , voltages and outputs. i am using US digital E-5 rotary encoders. i am now at the motor tuning stage of the game when i power up the system the servos jump forward about 3 reveloutions all three axis and the vipers throw a fault i get 5 red led flashes.
when i try to program any of the three axis i cant get the larken logo in hyperterm. any ideas?

Try Reversing the power wires to the motor.

Sounds like the encoder is wire ok though because the drive trips with "excess encoder error"

thanx larry that did the trick. still kinda working my way through the motor tuning stages. confused about the jumpers. each drive has 3 seperate banks. each bank can be used for different motor configs? so for my motors i should set all the banks to number 1? what about the step multiplier jumper? not sure what jumper to set it to. thanx
