Default 4th axis setup / hyperterminal alternative

My machine has been up and running for a good while now, (Sharnoa build post), and I'm ready to get my 4th axis running. Pulled the servo and put it on the bench. Servo is "holding", but when I give it a move command it jerks and faults out the board. OK, just need a little tuning. I re-read the other post that covered that part, but still can't get the thing to communicate. In that post Larry writes of a better software than hyperterminal, but doesn't name it. What is it?

    thanks

To replace hyper term, use Teraterm .

I was using version 4.66, but this is the latest version. Also you should be able to use a USB - serial adapter is you have no serial ports.

Download Tera Term 4.72 :: Freeware | Download

Loaded it last night. LKR popped right up, but it will not allow me to send anything to the board, ie carriage return. Cable ohms out ok. I think it may be the modem in my desktop. I'll buy the usb cable on the way home and try it on my laptop.
    thanks
