Default New to Routing Vcarve Pro or Aspire

I own a signshop and we primarily do full color digital sign work but I have purchased a used 4'x8' Machine Tool Camp router table for my first 3d router.

It only comes with DeskCNC so I'm going to need to purchase a software package to create the toolpaths. I keep reading to get Vcarve will do all you need them I'll hear get Aspire it's worth the price.

Right now I'm leaning more toward Vcarve Pro because I looked at the feature list and it seems as though you only get 2 features in Aspire that you don't get in Vcarve Pro. Can anyone tell me what makes Aspire worth $1200 more than Vcarve Pro? Being that I'm very new to Routing I'm not familiar with the terminology.

    Thank you

Aspire basically adds 3D modelling to V Carve Pro.

The nice thing about Vectric software is that if you upgrade, you get full credit for the original package.

So, buy V-Carve Pro, and use it. If you find that you need the features that Aspire has, you can upgrade to Aspire, for the difference in cost between the two.

So for 3d modeling, will I be able to route 2.5 - 3D objects like faux wooden textures, brick, scroll flurisbes and other objects like that that would be used on Signs? Or do you mean create 3d objects? If you mean creating 3d objects, would I be able to create half a sphere or pyramid in Vcarve Pro.

    Thanks

V-Carve Pro allows you to import and route a single 3D model. You can't import multiple 3D models into a single job. And V-Carve Pro does not have any 3D modeling capabilities, so you can't create and 3D elements.
Aspire allows unlimited 3D model import, and has a wide range of modeling tools. That's what you get for the extra $1200.

Thank you, I think in the sign industry that 1 3D image will be all that I need, unless some sign people on here can tell me any different. Unless the added tools are enough to make a difference. Can anyone post the additional modeling tools that aren't available in carve?

    Thanks again

V Carve doesn't have any modelling tools. All the 3D modelling tools listed here are NOT in V Carve Pro. Aspire - Features

Gary, if you click on the link that Gerry provided you will see a 'Products' tab at the top of the page. If you click on that tab you can get a side-by-side comparison of the Vectric software.

Thank you Gerry & Paul, I'll check it out I typically would just buy Aspire but with the extra expenses of the router + the building + HVAC for the building + materials to practice on cash is a little tight since the wifey wants to do this all without an financing.

As I said before, there's no penalty if you decide to upgrade to Aspire at a later time. The cost of V Carve Pro + Upgrade to Aspire is basically the same as the cost of Aspire.
So start with V Carve Pro, and upgrade if and when you need to.

Yes I understand but I know that I'll be needing to route textures like if the sign was sandblasted using a grain frame or a sand blasted foam look with variable depths ( think like clouds ), maybe a background that looks like fallen leaves, rocky texture etc. Also the regular v-carved letters and chiseled letters etc. I use Cadlink's Signlab and I can get Engravelab upgrade for about half of Aspire.

Get the V Carve Pro Demo, and see if it'll do what you need. I'm guessing that the background you want will require Aspire, but I'm not sure.
