Default cut depth issues with stl files -vcarve pro 9

hey guys, i am very new to cnc and the software for it, i am having cut depth issues in a pocket on an stl i am using.

my materials are .5" and im trying to cut the pocket .375" deep but often it shows on the cut preview that it will ony cut .125. i dont know how to manually set cut depth on a stl. all the cut details are generated by vcarve pro 9.

i have attached some files and a picture if anyone can help.

any and all help is much appreciated!!!!!

    thanks

3D toolpaths cut deth should be to the bottom.
    There are two exceptions.
    1) If the tool won't fit in the pocket, it won't be ablt to cut the entire depth.
    2) If the vector boundary does not leave enough room for the tool around the edges, then it won't be able to cut the entire depth.

You should learn to do this job using 3D vectors instead of from an .stl.
The toolpaths will be much more efficient, resulting in cut times of probably 10x faster.
And the finish will be much better.

Attach your .stl and V Carve file (zip them).

awesome thank you, unfortunately with the stl i dont even see an option for cut depth, (unless its called something different). I will definitely try to use that file! do you mean attach those files here in the thread? or in vcarve pro? thanks a lot for your help!

unfortunately with the stl i dont even see an option for cut depth,
There isn't a depth setting when doing roughing or finishing passes on an .stl (or any 3D model). The tool cuts down to the model.
