Hmmm.... Crickets..... Lol
Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum (and cnc for that matter) and have just bought a Techno Isel 9x20 cnc lathe. I tried a few other forums and was promptly dismissed..... Lol It seems people forget they weren't born with all this valuable information and started somewhere at some point in their lives, but I digress. I'll get off my soap box. I was excited to see a mentor forum here. This is a very good idea!
I would like to use an Acorn controller with the Gecko G320x drives. I have found a little information to share in hope that someone could look at it and see if the encoders and servos will work. The info is a mix of PDF files and text. I'm unable to attach the PDF's. I don't know if the text will make much sense without the pictorial diagram of the circuit panel. I also have a cut sheet if the servo in PDF but can't attach it either. I'll have to figure out why and post when I get it sorted out. Thanks guys.
The text is as follows:
Techno-Isel Metal Lathe - ENCODERS
They're standard line driver units, quadrature output a, b, z. They are 4000 counts per Rev. 5 volts input.
Techno used several different models, but all had the same numbers.

These are the servos my lathes have.
MCG servo

I believe the encoders are Dynapar HS35.
Here is some lathe porn. I still can't download the pdfs. I saved them to google drive and this attachment process doesn't seem to like that.

Figorvonbuellin,
Call Gecko (714-832-8874) and ask if any of their drives currently support 4000 PPR and if so use only the A and B phase +5V & ground of your existing encoders.
If the Gecko drives will not support 4000 PPR you will need to replace the encoders.
Welcome to the Zone,
Jeff...
Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.
OK, thanks.
