    Default surfacing bit 2"

    Hi.
I have one of these: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Router-B...-/263135935588

With a 2.2kw spindle I have been running it at 12000rpm 4000mm/min feed IIRC taking a 1mm cut. I think I will up the feed rate a bit since the chips I'm getting aren't very big & there's some 'powdery' waste.

THe question that's puzziling me - there's a 9.5mm (3/8") vertical cut length - but what is a 'reasonable' cut to take with this behemoth? I ramp it over 25mm.

    I'm relatively inexperienced.

    Thanks,
    Rob.

It depends on your spindle power and machine rigidity, as well as the feedrate. If you cut 9mm deep, you'd likely have to lower the feedrate. But there's no reason you can't cut that deep.
