    Default Spoil board question

I just received an import machine 5x10 footprint (66x126 actual). It has a vacuum table and when I do my cutting (pvc foam board) I cut 0.01 to 0.02 deeper than my material thickness so I have a clean cut and dont leave any onion skin of the material left. I know I can use an mdf spoil board and the vacuum will permeate through and hold my sheet to the spoil board - but I’m kinda hoping there is a better material out there that won’t leave my finished pieces covered in ultra fine dust (I used an mdf spoil board on my non-vacuum table machine previously and it was such a mess I switched to HDPE - of course that won’t work here with the vacuum table.

Thanks in advance for any advice

I think the dust from the PVC is far worse.

With a clean spoilboard, and a sharp tool, you should only need to cut about .005" through. If you have good dust collection, there shouldn't be much dust, unless you are using small tools and the cut is packed with chips.

My profiles are cut with a 1/4” tool - the dust in the air isn’t so much the issue it’s the dust that sticks to the pvc pieces that are cut - maybe I will try feathering the depth down a bit more - I’m redoing all my designs so the surface of the spoil board is z0 instead of the top of the sheet.
