If you're talking about an electrical box connection, normally the are a pipe tap size. In not a pipe tap, then just find the correct tap for the hole.
What’s the best method for chasing a taper thread in a box connection??

In that case I have no idea. I could do it on a manual lathe with a taper attachment, but I wouldn't even attempt it on my CNC lathe.

After thinking about this a bit, I do maybe have an idea.
Rotate the tool so the cutter can not touch the part
Load and run the program
Set the feed override to very slow
When the tool would be engaging the thread, press feed hold
Now move the tool as needed to engage the thread and tighten.
Release the feed hold.
Not sure if this would work, but might be worth a try.
