Hello there,

I am posting here, hoping to get some help from you guys.

I try to explain my problem as well as possible.

I recently noticed some backlash on the Y-axis, on my machine, it's an old robodrill 1995 t10b, I believe is on the 0.015mm (0.0006") region.

I am not sure if this is the cause, but I have been machining some mild steel parts, and I am noticing a big vibration only when the toolpath is across the Y-axis, same spindle speed, same depth and width of cut and same feed across the x-axis, but no noise at all.

I machined previously another batch of mild steel parts, but since most of the roughing was across x, I didn't notice this.

I took the y axis's guards off, ballscrew looks ok, still greasy, guideways a bit dry, (I don't have the auto lube unit, I need to grease them manually).

I also took some pictures, if you need to see them.

I haven't seen anything loose, or too strange, but too be honest I am not sure what I need to do/check.

The finishing itself seems still ok.

What could be the problem?

I also have a noise coming from Z axis, I had a technician in to check that months ago, and he confirmed the noise is from z-axis brake, but the squeaking is becoming more and more noticeable.

Any opinion/suggestion is highly appreciated.

Regards
