    Default Old Australian CNC retrofit

    Hello,

I am a first year uni student who has been offered a free CNC machine. I have to pay 600 dollars of shipping to get it where I want and I dont know if it is worth it.

It is called an "Adept cim centre" mill. It is rather old and I wanted to see what everyone thought of it. I was hoping if it had stepper motors that I could simply swap out drivers and add a new control board to let it work with modern tech. It currently has a special mach card in an old pc which doesnt work.

Let me know what you think of it and what sort of motors older mills commonly used.

    Thanks for the help.
