That finish is a 6mm ball mill with a 0.5mm step, we where try it out for a finish on a part we will be making soon. Look good in hand the photo does not show it to its best

Great Thread! thank you for going through all this work to share.

Could you measure the runout on that spindle? I am interested in the rounout on the tool, actually, not the spindle itself. Just put a dial indicator up on the flat part of the cutting tool as far away as possible from the collet.

Here is a picture of what I would like:

    Any chance?

Also, what is the name of the resin you used? I would like to see what it costs and where I can find it.

    Thanks!

    Hi
Here is the data sheet for the resin we used
    http://www.fgi.com.au/files/images/s...inylesters.pdf
top of page 5 we used the 1636
Which gave us 40 minutes to play with the size part we made work well, had a nice safety margin.

    Hi
The latest addition is some lighting under the head. I as using a lead light to see before.
Got one of those strip of LEDs that comes in a aluminium channel, cut the ends off with 9 LED on each of them with the wires and joined them and sliconed to bottom of the head. Run the wires back to the power surply so as soon as it turned on I can see
It works well with the camera location as well, It give a good contrast on the part
With these 18 LEDs it only just makes it as working as they are bright but not a lot of light comes from each LED
    The photos tell the rest
