With the advent of the Raspberry Pi Pico being Capable and readily available, is there any interest in converting the GRBL software to run on the Pico?
The Pico seems like it should be well suited to the endeavor.
32 Bit, relatively fast (100+ Mhz), Dual Core, plenty of I/O, Ram and Flash, Programs in 'C' or Python (Python is probably to slow), Microcontroller, not Microcomputer (This means Bare Metal programming, NO OS), LOW PRICE!!!
It would seem that this should be a no brainer for a project although the software port might be a little challenging.
I am an old Microcontroller / Software engineer that loves CNC machines and would like to see a low cost, 32 Bit FOSS replacement for the Arduino GRBL.
I have some time to devote to this project but I don't wish to do it alone.
Anybody out there interested?
P.S. if this project takes off I can layout a printed circuit board to pull together whatever we come up with.
