Dear CNC friends.
Who can tell me some CAM software that can calculate real 4 axis milling? I know only software from 'Hongfa' that shows it can do it.
Deskproto can do multi sided milling and rotary milling with some detailed areas defined to cut out deeper pockets, even with a Z below the rotary axis but it is not automatically calculated so it takes a lot of time to define these pockets because there could be many on a 3D object.
All other software I know of leaves the mill centered on the rotary axis. True 4 axis milling would be able to mill undercuts automatically and reduce CAM programming significantly.
Check out the video to understand a bit better what I mean.
I hope one of the members here can name software that can actually use all 4 axis for milling 3D objects effectively.
Unfortunately as far as I know, IMTS 2020 has been cancelled. Yet I don´t know if their exhibitors database is available. I suggest you check for it.
I remember some folks exhibiting software for up to 5 simultaneous axes. One was being actually shown on a DIY machine as this software was mainly intended for retrofits in the hobby/pro markets.
