I thought there would be many programs that could do this, but there are no suggestions, I am really surprised.
Hi everyone
I would like to start a poll because most polls I found here is quite old, I hope to be able to get some help here to find out what software should be in the poll?
What CAD/CAM software do you recommend for 3d tool paths?
I am new to CNC machining, so I need some guidelines.
I need a software that can draw straight and multiple curved lines, circles, Ect. in 3D. So the nodes on a line can be defined in XYZ (I’ve been testing out Artcam but can only define XY and not Z).
After the lines are drawn, I need to make the tool paths follow the lines in XYZ, to be able to define what order they are made and nest the finished tool paths. When finished nesting, I need to generate the G Code for each tool and save as .tap for Mash3.
Please give me some suggestions to which software should be in the poll.
Ps. Using Windows 7

I will start the poll when have more suggestions for which programs can make 3D sketches so the tool can follow the sketched lines in all 3 directions.
Right now I only have your suggestion of Fusion 360 and thanks for that suggestion.
By the way do you know if I can add more programs on the poll after I started the poll?
There's a few options out there if....... Money is no object!!!!!!!
I've used Rhino and RhinoCam in the past for work doing very "organic" objects. Very capable and fairly easy to learn. Sometimes thought to be the Swiss army knife of true 3D software. Also very good support.
Now retired, I'm exploring Fusion. Its a paid subscription to be able to do 4th axis work and because its affordable. A very different mind set in terms of approach. I sometimes think that because Autodesk is the big kid on the block, they feel they have license to reinvent the wheel. Terminology is very different then what I'm used to (I also was trained on MasterCam 9 and 10 - didn't work for me).
Here's a list of CAM software programs from beginner to professional level.

Sorry for the late reply, but my subscription to receive email immediately when new posts, does not working as I haven't got any mails.
I have been trying testing Fusion 360, looks like not problem to make the 3d sketch drawing and the tool paths follow the sketch lines also in Z. (Thanks for the suggestion Jim)
I have been trying testing Solidworks, not easy to do 3d sketch drawing. it is nearly impossible to adjust 3d sketch lines, and the tool paths do not follow the sketch lines in Z.
On the list to try:
Rhino and RhinoCam
from the "BEST CAM SOFTWARE" list I like the CAD and CAM in the same program, so when making a adjustment to the sketch the CAM software just know it.
BobCAD-CAM
Mastercam
Thank you very much for all your suggestions. Are there more programs that should be in the poll?
As we know that a lot of software's are available for the students where anyone can get writing options. I have read more here about the 5 frauds in the education sector which can be eleminated through the software process.
