Nice software with rather powerful functionalities for an open source project. One of the best, if not The Best.
Using it myself, although more or less taking advantage of its customization environment at the moment (dev).
Thanks for sharing the vids, excellent content!

yes i completely agree with you , it is somewhere very similar with CATIA and some other professionnal softwares. i often use it to convert file format ( for some CAD format types need some pluggins).

I first looked at it when version 0.14 was current and the ease of modelling simple objects and adding draft and chamfers was pretty good.I looked more closely a couple of years ago and it had improved, more to the point, the Path module had some machining capability and didn't look too difficult to learn the rudiments of.Last winter I added the daily updates version and got a bit more serious as my homebuilt router was close to being ready for use and Freecad has a post processor for the LinuxCNC control system I had selected. There are elements that aren't too intuitive and parts that are still under development, such as 3D waterline machining, but for the cost of absolutely zero it is a fantastic achievement by a bunch of capable programmers.

I also used youtube to push along my ability to get things done and a lot of the videos were very helpful. Those which were out of focus or accompanied by a droning commentary wouldn't have made my list of things you need to watch. The excellent series by sliptonic were shot well and described stuff that was very useful to know;but then he wrote the book on Freecad.I look forward to seeing what we will be enabled to do with the next release-Vcarving is one additional capability under development.I would be quite interested in knowing if anybody has successfully exported a dxf or dwg with actual lines, rather than hundreds of small entities and if so what I might be doing wrong.
