Bench test: Y axis setup with mpg4
While I wait for a new power supply, (shout out to Antek Inc for being so helpful and reasonably-priced) I am bench-testing my new build. I've got everything powered up with small PSUs and am able to get the motor to jog nicely with uccnc, but I'm not at all convinced I have the right settings. For the moment, I'm only concerned with the Y axis.
I also have an mpg4 wired up, but jogging is goes back and forth erratically, so I'm setting that aside for the time being to avoid any potential damage. I am just beginning to understand the pins, ports, and I/O function buttons, but still pretty lost. I know that the mpg is port 3, for example, but that's about it. I've got some I/O trigger buttons/functions set, I think. I don't know what MPG pins A or B should be set to, or what trigger inputs and output should be.
Is there a guide or tutorial for how to configure pins and ports? I'm not asking for the exact settings (unless there are universal ones, like the buttons/functions) because every machine is different; I'm just looking to understand so I can competently setup this machine once I have the control box fully assembled and installed.
I'm reading the manuals for each component and reading post after post in this forum, absorbing as much as I can, but I'm having a hard time learning this new language.
