    Default UCCNC and Super-PID

I have been running Mach3 with a router and Super-PID for a few years. I am now in the process of switching to UCCNC and am having problems getting it set up with the Super-PID. I can get it to start up but getting the speed change is not going well. It always starts off way to low rpm and the window showing the speed does not change.

Does anyone have this combination working and if so can you share your setup?

    Thanks
    Sam

Can you tell us how you have it set up? What hardware are you using?

Does the SuperPID 1.5 accept PWM, or a 0-5V signal? I don't see a 1.5 manual on their website. If it doesn't accept a PWM signal, you may need a 0-5V speed control board.

    How is it wired?

It accepts PWM. It has been running from Mach3 for about 3 years now with speed controlled via Mach3.
On/Off (m3) is connected to pin 1 and pwm is connected to pin 14

I believe 1.5 is just a v1 with upgraded firmware.

The v2 still uses analogue signal so I assume all the previous versions did, the first version did also.

I dont know that the C10 has analog outputs. The wires I have coming from the SuperPID are:
    +5v to 5 volt supply
    Run to Output 1
    Ground to Ground
    P.O. to output pin 14

    Some progress.
I am now able to use the slider to adjust speed - to a certain point. Even though I have it set to go from 6000 to 30000 it will only go from about 14000 to 27000. That may just be some adjustments in the pulleys or freq. I can play with that some. If you have any suggestions on how to fine tune that I would like to hear.

Gerry, I am using you 2017 screen. The S window does not show the changes in speed or the correct speed. Is there a way to correct that?

    Thanks
    Sam

The V1 does not accept a PWM signal, so the V1.5 is probably more like V2??
The V1 manual show PO connected to an analog voltage, not PWM.

I just spent 30 minutes looking through the Loooong Super Pid thread here.

It looks like V1.5 is the same as V1.1, but with a linear response, vs the logarithmic response of the V1.1.
And it would seem that V1.5 did not accept PWM, but you could purchase an optional converter board for a few $. This must be what you have?

I don't think the Pulley settings will have any effect, like they do in Mach3.
    I'd try two things.
    1) Set the minimum speed to 0, rather than 6000.
    2) Try playing with the PWM frequency, and see if it makes any difference. I'd try it at 10Hz, and 200Hz, and see if there's any difference?

I haven't used a Super PID with UCCNC, but I get perfect speed to my VFD using the PWM.

To get the RPM to do what you want, you need to edit the screen and change the DRO # to 2451. This was not available when I created the screen.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this for me Gerry. I bought it second hand and I do believe it has the additional board. He installed a switch to go between Pot control and Spindle (computer) control.
I also found out why it wont go above 27000 - That's the max on this router. Duh!

I think that for now I can work on different min and max rev to get it close to what is called out on the SuperPID. I intend to upgrade to a spindle and VFD as soon as I can get an idea of what to get. I'll be looking for a Air Cooled 2.2 spindle and either 4hp or 5hp VFD. Any recommendations?

A couple more questions for you if you don't mind.

Is there a new number to put into the Feed readout like with the Speed?

I did a test run with a calibration file just cutting in air or now. It was done in Aspire with your 2010 post processor. When I run it it stop with an error that it cannot read M883. I realized that the M883 macro wasn't in my new profile for UCCNC. I copied it over but still got the same error. I assume I will get that for all the files. Do you have a suggestion on how to get past that?

    Thanks
    Sam

No, the Velocity should work fine.

On Settings > General, Unknown G-Code Handling, select "Ignore".
Or, use the UCCNC post processors on my website.

The velocity window does show correctly. It is the feed override window that doesn't change when the Feed slider is adjusted.

I had downloaded the PP on your site but it says it is for Aspire 9,5 and I have 9.1

Change the Feedrate # to 2450.

I think the post will work with 9.1. Try it.

    Nope, PP doesn't work
Get this error when starting Aspire

    begin
    Unknown section name for begin

then it gives the line numbers. They correspond to lines for Helical Arc moves.

    For the inch pp they are lines 149, 157,165, 173, 181, 189, 197, 205

When I commented those lines out it would load. Maybe that is something new added to 9.5.

I haven't used aspire for awhile. Found out that the Helical Arc parts is new in 9.5, but 9.5 is a free upgrade from 9.0 so all's good.
