    Hi All,

Yes, I made further progress. Pictures below shows the new version under testing.
It corrects few mistakes from last time which were.
-CP logic >> Now the user can cancel CP function from K5 relay and able to use it as normal on/off relay
-Relay orientation >> Now, the orientation same as UB1 motherboard.
-Output logic not correct during initial time when using with 5LPT product >> The new design has 2 mode: UB1 and 5LPT.

The UD1 comes in 2 versions: The universal input type (U-Type) and the NPN input type (N-type). The U-type able to handle variety of input types including DC voltage source (PNP) and sink (NPN), at 5V and 24V. It can be used with AC input as well. On the other hand, The N-Type is limit to use with sink (NPN) at 5V and 24V volt level Only.

I need more few days to test the new design. If all goes well, I should have product already for sale within 6 weeks.
So, Now I need to make a manual by getting help from Gerry.
I also need to make new testing tool because the new design, the input can be both NPN and PNP. One input need to be tested twice.

    Thanks,
    Weerasak

If the U type can do what the N type does (NPN), then why do you need two different versions?

    Hi Gerry,

Because of some components in U-Type are special, not widely used and more expensive than N-type. Overall, This make U-type more expensive than U-type around 20%.

    Thanks,
    Weerasak

    Hi Derek

The price of N-type is around US$80 more or less.

    Thanks,

    Vrasak,
Can I use this UB1 Daughterboard with CNC BOB ST-V2 ?

I do not need to purchase UB1 BOB, because I have already had one with UC300ETH - LPT5.

The daughter board will work with port 4 and port 5 of the 5LPT board.

You can still use the cheap 5 axis bob on ports 2 or 3.

    Vrasak,

Can the UB1 or UD1 support Laser PWM output to control Laser output power?
I have the UB1 but investigating what I need to add a laser to my CNC router, maybe the UD1 and switch over to UCCNC?.

    Thanks,
    Alexander

I would think that any output on the UB1 or UD1 can output the PWM signal? The question is can the software output the signal. I think that UCCNC can using the laser plugin it has.

I think the question is if the BOB has that fast type outputs which can handle those fast PWM signals.

I am about to order the uccnc software because of laser plugin. But I can not find any documentation if the fast pwm laser output is configurable incombination With UB1 or UD1. It should control the ttl input of the laser.

    Thanks for Your help guys,
    Alexander

    Hi Guys,

I've tried laser plugin by following Stepcraft setup. I used Y316 as a PWM output and measured frequency and duty cycle of this output.
First, I guessed that frequency must be around 20khz. I though that I must have a hack (cut and wiring terminal pad) under the board if transistor output is not fast enough.

But actually it turned out that the frequency is only 3.125khz. and duty cycle is 21.7% for all red color picture.

The waveform of Y316 is look sharp and nice. I used 1k resister connect (pull-up) to 5V terminal to make TTL compatible logic.

Update News: On coming UD1 broad.
Since I have to join a long Holiday with big family members (my family is a part of big family) during Thai New Year called "Songkran" 1-16 April.

I don't like to let my guests to wait for me while I'm on holidays. For this reason, I need to speed things up. The 16 blank PCBs left from second prototype will be assembled for you guys.

    Hi Weerasak,

Thanks alot for your quick investigation for the Laser ttl output, this is great service!!
Let me know if the UD1 is ready for shipment and I will add that one to my system, always good to have more I/O.

    Thanks,
    Alexander

After you investigated the laser plugin, it is OK to add laser (LED laser ?) on cnc router or not OK due to freq too low.

    Hi AsuratMan,

First, I have no experience about laser things. this is my first time that I come to close to laser topic. I googled for PWM and frequency of laser engraving to get a rough ideal about frequency range that UB1 output circuit has to deal with. So, the number 20khz may indicate the max frequency for those drivers can accept.

I guess that the frequency 3.125khz come out of the hardware with specified by plugin should be about right for certain environment. It doesn't mean too slow.

As mentioned above, I have no experience about laser. But I can only tried out hardware and plugin for you.

    Thank you for your per-orders.

3 pcs of U-Type has been ordered and nil for N-type.
It seems that everybody loves superior version. I guess that the N-type will be dismissed in near future.

    Hi All,
Four pieces of UD1 was sent out yesterday. Another two boards will be sent within 3 days. Thank you for your support.
I would appreciate if you could put your feedback about product here.

    Thanks
