    Hello everyone, I am new to this community and I hope I am posting my problem on the proper thread.
    I am building a large router 4' x 8' using the UB1 / UC300ETH control board, Huanyang VFD, a Chineese spindle and UCCNC software.
    Everything works fine manually, I can easily control the spindle through my VFD () with its front panel .
    However, I cannot control the VFD from UCCNC with the HYPLUGIN12.
    Before posting my problem I ran through all related threads of CNCZONE and CNCDRIVE and, as suggested in some of them, used the utility SpindleTalker to troubleshoot.
    With SpindleTalker running I have complete control of the VFD.
    Therefore it eliminates all issues related to communication.
    I have redone many times the istallation of the HY-12 plugins following rigorously the required steps suggested in the threads and including Youtube.
    Is it possible that the HY-12 version is my problem and that I should use the HY-14 version ?
    If so I was not able to find where I can downloaded it from (I was able to download the HY-12 version from a link in a thread)

    Thanks for your help

    Control board : UB1 with UC300ETH
    Spindle: 2.2KW motor - Water-cooled 220 VAC

    USB-RS485 adaptor: 2 differents models with drivers CH341SER or Silicon LabsCP210x
    Software: UCCNC ver. 1.2049
    UCCNC Screensets: Both UCCNS Standard and Screenset2017
    HY plugin for VFD: HY-12
    Troubleshoot utility: SpindleTalker2

    Hi ybouchard, if you have full control with spindle talker than it must be a settings issue, please post your .pro file so I can see your settings. You can find it in your UCCNC directory /Profiles

    If using 2017 screenset you must set your spindle speed textfield to #2451. Make sure it's higher than your min RPM setting.

    Here is attached my profile file (UC300ETH-Screenset2017.pro of which I changed the extension to .txt enable upload )
    Meanwhile, yesterday evening, I was able to find on the internet an old HY10 plugin.
    Preliminary tests seems to be positive.
    Therefore, may be the more recent HY14 would be good.
    Is HY14 available and where from ?

    Hi Yves

    I went through the PRO file and found the relevant part of the file refering to the plugin

    [Hyplugin]
    OnOff=False
    AmpCB=False
    Selectedport=COM4
    Selectedbaud=9600
    SelectedFreq=400
    Selectedminrpm=2000
    Selectedmaxrpm=24000
    SactField=20666
    AmpFeild=

    When using HY12 I'm fairly sure that SactField should be blank in your profile. The 20666 was used on previous versions.
    You also need to edit the screen and change the RPM field number from 870 to 2451 as Dan mentioned.

    I haven't seen HY14 myself but haven't been as active in this thread as I would like to be.

    hope you get it sorted.

    Cheers

    Dan told me two weeks ago that HY12 is the latest.
    HY14 was a test that was not released.

    Thank you all for trying to help me.
    After multiple unsuccessful attempts in trying to make it work with my actual computer, I gave up and build / configured a new computer on which the Plugin is finally working
    I will never know what was wrong with my first computer and why SpindleTalker was working and not the plugin but I moved on...
    Thanks again

    Hi all

    Thanks to ger21 and Dan for their work on uccnc. I've been happily using the 2017 screenset and thought I'd give rs485 spindle control a go.

    Sadly I've not been able to get it working and I'm at the point where I'm out of ideas and need a nudge.

    I'm using the jbtek usb rs485 adaptor, this is the one ger21 recommends from Amazon. I actually bought 3 of these now thinking I was having bad luck with faulty adaptors but all display the same problem so I think the problem lies elsewhere. I'm using hyplugin12 and the drivers linked on ger21 website.

    When using spindletalker2 I get a green light for com4 but no communication from the vfd. I've followed the installation guide for the hyplugin12 too.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Have you set all the VFD parameters as described in the instructions?

    Hi. I have the following set;

    000 = 0
    001 = 2
    002 = 2
    003 = 240
    004 = 400
    163 = 1
    164 = 1
    165 = 3

    Anything I've missed or set incorrectly?

    The com4 baud rate is 9600 with 8 bits no parity and 1 stop bit. Driver appears to be installed correctly and shows no problems in device manager.

    Since I've tried 3 different intel rs485 adaptors I really doubt that's the issue so it's either the vfd which is around 2012 vintage, don't know if they made them different back then or if it's the pc.

    Make sure the VFD terminals are actually wired to something internally? I seem to recall that some older Huanyang's did not come with the RS-485 components?

    Oh. Yeah well that would explain it. How do I go about checking the rs+ and rs- terminals have rs485 hardware enabled?

    Look inside and see if the terminals are wired to anything? Not sure how easy it is to see without taking it apart?

    Dunno really its hard to say. The terminals are soldered to the pcb and there's traces. The PCB appears fully populated and the manual, although in chinese, does clearly reference rs485 and modbus when referring to pd002, pd163 etc. At this point I don't have a clue. After opening the vfd I did find a sticker with a manufacturing date of June 2011 so this is a pretty old example. I'm surprised its lasted all these years considering how cheaply these things are made.

    It may well have it.

    Dan will have to help, as I know nothing about Spindletalker, or how to check for connection issues.

    Hi Shinobiwan,

    The missing chip Gerry is referring to can be viewed for reference with pic below, the red filled outline is where rs485 chip should be. The pic is 10 years old and haven't seen or any1 posted it 's missing for sometime but definitely worth a check.

    From what I briefly read it certainly seems you have a communication issue and doesn't always mean it's a rs485 converter problem. Post your UCCNC pro file and comp specs/windows op and will have a more thorough look tomorrow. Just back from dinner with a few glasses of wine under my belt.

    Hello All,
    I posted a new version of this plugin(HY14) and I'm sure it will help the few that had trouble with HY12, I also added a few new features and it can be found for download and testing with link below.

    Really didn't look into this since never replied to my post but just happened to catch this.

    PD003
    PD004
    PD005

    need to be set to 400HZ, I see you have PD003 set to 240 which is incorrect and probably where your trouble lies.

    PD144 needs 3000

    These settings are based on my assumption your using a typical Chinese spindle.

    Seems my VFD is one of those without the RS485 capability. No wonder it wasn't working!

    Hi all,

    I used the hyplugin12 and got both the actual rpm as well as the actual current (and of course was able to control the speed). After updating to the latest version of UCCNC and hyplugin14, I do not get any feedback from the vfd, yet the plugin says it can read the vfd settings and it can actually control the spindle.

    What makes me wonder is that I also get no "Current XXX" data in the VFD Status box of the plugin and I do not receive data under "Data Received" - see attached screenshot.

    Using a HY VFD, latest UCCNC, standard screenset and a Wiznet WIZ108SR RS485 to ethernet converter.

    Kind regards,
    Robert
