    I’m running screenset and at present I still can’t make this work.
    Do you mean the 2017 Screenset? If so, you need to edit the screen and change the RPM field number from 870 to 2451.

    Can you post your profile?

    What version of UCCNC, and what version of the plugin?

    What RS-485 adapter are you using?

    ver 1.2049. Its set to 2451.everything seems to be functioning correctly in screenset. diagnostic shows the spindle is on, you can vary the rpm with the slider. but the vfd doesn't seem to be getting a signal, its just sitting there flashing

    Dan would no better, but it sounds like the RS-485 adapter is either not working, or not wired correctly.

    RS-485 adapter issues seem to be very common.

    It may seem like it's communicating because written bytes are only showing what serial port is putting out, no test for rs485 and VFD. If no response than communication is your problem, even if a bad/incorrect byte array was sent the VFD will still reply.

    If your able to download a free Serial Monitor and post dump it will give a more definitive clue of what's happening.

    Ok, I received the new adapters, plugged everything in and started spindle talker and everything works as advertised. I opened uccnc typed s24000, enter. 24000 appeared in the box. Hit start, the spindle started to turn, stopped and I got this message:
    the application lost the connection with the motion controller device. Check the connection. The application is closing now.
    if I restart the application, it goes into demo mode. I have to unplug the uc100, plug it back in to get uccnc to restart.
    Any ideas?

    The VFD and/or spindle wiring is interfering with the UC100 USB connection.
    Is the spindle using shielded wire, and properly grounded?

    You might want to try a shielded USB cable with ferrite beads on it.

    I’m using a shielded twisted pair I got from our avionics shop. Grounded on both ends. Shielded power wire. I’m also using a shielded usb cable, but no ferrite beads. I’m sure I have one though. I’ll give that a try.

    You have broken the most important rule of using shielded cable. Thou shalt ground the shield at one end only. Usually the shield is connected at the VFD end. Grounding the shield at both ends cause earth loops and a world of trouble.

    Ok guys that did it. The problem was the super duper expensive shielded usb cable that I got. Everything is percolating as advertised. Thanks to all of you who helped me with this problem.
