So sorry Rick I got side tracked and forgot. If I remember correctly 2.2kw is 9amps? Check your spindle nameplate. I have 3kw and purchased 14 gauge so probably 16 gauge would be good, check motor and wire specs. Also, make sure you choose 4 wire even if you only have 3 prong socket. Most of these China spindles don't have a ground connected and it's recommended to do so.

    Dan,
I hate to be so needy, but the link shows the entire page when I go there.
Which variety of cable do you recommend?

    Double-shielded motor cable,
    or double-shielded space-saver control cable,
    or space-saver control cable,
or no-conduit-required double shielded control cable,
    or no-conduit-required control cable

Thanks again, your patience is appreciated!

I purchased the No-Conduit-Required Control Cable, Double Shielded.

There may be cheaper and you can shop. Just make sure it's the correct gauge, shielded, flexible with 4 wires.

I went back and forth with that cable and the one I purchased and saw no concerning differences in specs. Only difference is it's tin plated and gives the extra 30 degrees allowance but never expected cable to exceed 190 degrees and needed a cable rated 220 degrees. So I decide to save a dollar a foot...lol. Yes I'm a bargain hunter.

If I'm missing something please let me know.

    Hi

I simply cannot get the VFD to turn on the spindle, I have folloved the instructions, and the VFD works fine when manually starting the spindle.
I have tried reversing the polarity of the two wires to the adapter.
I have installed drivers, fund the right COM port and made all the settings.
    I have tried another adapter.
    All with no luck.
I´m running the 2017 screenset and have made the required changes to the RPM field.

    What am I missing????

    Regards

    Hi Jan,

What you are missing?... from what you posted would be a guess without a little more info.

    1. Make sure your VFD parameters are set to instructions below.

    PD001>>>>>>>>>>>>> 02 Enable commands on port rs485
PD002>>>>>>>>>>>>> 02 Enable speed control on port rs485
PD004 >>>>>>>>>>>>> The Base frequency of your motor (see motor plate)
PD023>>>>>>>>>>>>> 01 Enable reverse rotation (only if you want to run CCW)
    PD163>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1 Vfd address
PD164 >>>>>>>>>>>>>1 Line Speed(1 for 9600 bauds) This setting must match with HYPLUGIN
    PD165>>>>>>>>>>>>> 3 ( 8N1 RTU)

    2. Post adapter you are using to guide you to correct connection.

    3. Did you try setting RPM with MDI with a higher RPM than the minimum setting you set up in the HY configure window?

If you are still having trouble post your .pro flie in the UCCNC/Profiles folder to help me confirm proper settings.

    Dan

    Hi Dan

    Thanks for helping out.

    1. Yes, the settings are set correct in the VFD
    2. I´m using this adapter https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-2-5-10-...item237955b2b0
    3. I tried a number of MDI speed settings, without any luck.

After reading this thread, I have to ask, must the VFD be turned on before I run UCCNC? (I´m using a macrobutton to trigger a contactor to turn on the VFD.) or is it okay to turn on the VFD after starting UCCNC.

    Regards
    Jan

The VFD needs to be on first, I believe, or it won't connect.

Can you post a screenshot of the plugin interface?
You profile says on/off = false, meaning it's not enabled in the plugin.

Tyknok that is and old version of the HYplugin and if using a UCCNC version higher than 1.2039 which I'm sure you are it won't work. You need to download the latest HYplugin... "HY12" and make sure your using a UCCNC version 1.2039 or higher. You can search this thread for it or use link below.

    Thanks Dan

I know it is an old version, I tried it in desperation ?? But that was before Gerry informed me that the VFD has to be on, before loading UCCNC.

I will try the new version later today.

My UCCNC pc is running Windows 10, and finds the adapter automaticly, do I have to install a driver for it then?

    Have a nice weekend

    Hi Dan

I loaded the latest plugin (the one yuo linked to) and installed the driver.

The VFD is running before starting UCCNC

Still The Spindle will not start.

Must I purchase a new adapter, a new VFD?

Can the problem be related to the 2017 screenset?

Are you sure the RPM DRO has been changed to 2451?

I use Windows 10 Pro and the 2017 screenset, but I use a relay on my bob to start the spindle, and just use the plugin for rpm.

I havent changed the RPM DRO yet, Will the spindle not start until this change has been made?

I would like to use the plugin to manage the "S" commands in my G code, but it does not seem to be my lucky day.
