Newbie question about setting Z zero on a tool.
Hello everyone I’m somewhat new to CNC machining. I use a probe to touch off my tools on a CNC lathe. But sometimes my part off tool’s Z is off. (Sometimes it leaves to much material or doesn’t leave enough material on the part for the sub side.) So my question is how would I teach a Z zero manually for the part off tool? Like if a drill were to break midway through a part, I would just manually touch a new drill to the face of a semi finished part with a piece of paper, hit z zero measure on the tool geometry, and then minus the piece of paper and it comes out nearly perfect. Would I do the same thing here or would I set it to the face of a raw part?
