This is a simple part made from low carbon steel. It is a piston for a hydraulic ram.
I am trying to make a automatic code generator for this kind of part and I would like to get recommendations on the machining process to make the large groove outside.
My ideia is to make the full groove with a "grooving" tool. What are your recommendations? Another tool type?
The tool picture is from Iscar website. Something like this tool would be my best choice?
Any recommendation for the brand/inserts is welcome.
