My question is about balance. I will describe the material, CNC used, and my question.

Material: 303 Stainless Steel Bearing shaft quality. 1"(actually .9985 or .9995) diameter x 33" long.

CNC Turning center: Used for tapping and threading both ends of stock material. The surface is untouched.

This part is put into a housing with flange bearing supports 3.5" from the center of the shaft. Leaving 13 inches cantilevering at either end with no support at the ends.
A motor and belt will drive the shaft with pulleys at 1725 RPM.
With no load on either side of the shaft should there be any vibration or unbalance? (Assuming the housing is sturdy and rigid.)

Follow up question:
Would the balance be better if the shaft was a larger diameter of stock and turned down to the desired size?
Can CNC Lathes dynamically balance or static balance a part or is that always a second operation with different machinery?
Is the vibration experienced torsional shaft deflection or shaft whirl?

It seems to be that balancing isn't done at many CNC shops. They make the parts and getting them balanced it up to the end user.

Any input, suggestions, or questions are welcome.
