TurboCAD for Lasercutting - 2D Boolean Subtract Add inherent number of uses limit?
Hello, some wonderful looking toys referenced here.
A colleague does very basic lasercutting for me as a favour, from TurboCAD Deluxe v19 2D files (used to be v12)
In creating a "vent" of 13x13 square holes, I continually hit a limit of 2D-Boolean-Subtract or Add.
- If I draw a big square, use grid to distribute squares for holes, then 2D-Boolean-Subtract I can not quite get past 13x8 holes. No error, it just stops working.
- If I draw one individual square hole with 2mm border, copy, then 2D-Boolean-Add I end up hitting the same limit, it just stops working.
- If I draw lots of oblongs to join them up into a mesh it stops working even quicker!
I have hit this before with sheet metal work before (v12 & v19 share it), like someone has set a limit internally - it will just refuse to 2D Boolean Subtract or Add at some "level of complexity". Why, it is such a simple basic tool?!
Q - Does TurboCad Pro Platinum v18 have this problem (I have it shrinkwrapped)?
I have so far got around it by drawing in 3D and 3D-Boolean-Subtract works fine, I get my "13x13 square hole vent" (not a vent but what it looks like).
Q - HOWEVER, do I just set thickness to 0.1mm or 0mm for the 2D lasercutting colleague (saves his time sending him bum files)?
