    Default Journeyman Mill question

I think this is my 3rd post in about as many days. I figure the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked. So I have this mysterious tube line coming out from under the head near the spindle casting boss. It is roughly 18” or so in length and isn’t connected to anything. Does anyone know what this is or what function it’s supposed to provide? See attached pic.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that is a drain tube for oil in the headstock

That’s what I was leaning towards but didn’t want to assume. I’m thinking you’re correct since the lubrication diagram made no mention of it.

Confirmed over the weekend that is indeed what it is. I blew some air through it to clear a clog and it immediately started dripping lube oil.

Hmm, my Journeyman 425 just drips oil all over the table, etc. Maybe there is supposed to be some sort of return / drain line? I never gave it much thought. I'm just happy my spindle bearings are getting lube.

Mine does that as well. I think it’s a bad seal around the bottom of the quill.
