J325 with BEI Encoders reused in retrofit

I'm wondering if CAT 5 cable would bo ok to use...

It would work, but make sure you use stranded CAT5, but it's not normally shielded which is desirable. On the other hand, a line driver output (differential quadrature) is pretty much noise immune.

I normally use a 9 conductor shielded serial cable, just cut the ends off as needed. More flexible than CAT5.
