    Default 15L Slant-Pro live tooling?

Is there any option to have live tooling on the Tormach 15L Slant-Pro? I doubt it but if there is anyway to have this on the machine it would drastically sway my purchase decision.

    Thanks,

You would need to synchronize the spindle with a servo motor and there is no place on the turret also.

OK...I was pretty sure it wasn't possible. I sent Tormach an email a couple weeks ago but never did get a reply from them.

    Thanks,

I asked Tormach about live tooling when the SBL-15 1st came out and the answer back was "not likely". That was 5-6 years ago I think, but it seems like nothing has changed there.

I mean, technically you could install an electric or air spindle and have a relay control via usb I/O kit, but Not sure how often it would be useful without C axis orientation. Haas CL-1 appears to have implemented live tooling in this way, but it has Caxis option.

Spindle orientation and holding it in that orientation is the big one. After that bolting a motorized tool on is probably the easy part. I've seen coolant-powered live tools for sale, although I think a serious coolant pump upgrade would be required for a Tormach.
