    Default Why did you buy a 15L

    I bought the 15l because of its size. I have no room for nor the ability to move a 5000 pound machine. I don’t care about rapid speeds with the size of the work envelope. The turret works good. The enclosure is good. I bought the quick change tool post and love the versatility of almost endless tools. The only real drawback is spindle horsepower. To make good chips even in aluminum you can stall the spindle. I end up taking small cuts at fast feed rates so I don’t make wire. I upgraded the coolant pump and added a second pump powered by the collet closer m code to service the quick change tool post. The manual jfk collet closet is of a bad design but works okay when you get used to its quirks.
