I’m buying a 440 but can find too many specs on people using it for 1018 CR. I make small parts from .75” x .50” stock and want to know if it can handle a DOC of .25 with a WOC of .375 using a 3/8x2" .020" 4FL 1/2" F/L *AlCrN* end mill from Garr tooling. Thanks in advance

Is there a specific reason for that particular tool and those specific cut parameters? I know the 440 will handle 1018 because I've done it (makerspace machine) and that was back when I had NO clue what I was doing. I don't know that it has the power to handle that big of a cut though. I suppose it will depend a bit on your chip load.

My opinion from what I have read over the last few years, I would go with the 770 as it has a much better rapor than the 440.

I have an 1100 s3 and it is a bit underpowered as well when using larger cutters.

.075 radial might be too much load on the 440's motor.
    It might stall.
I would do more passes, with a lighter radial load. Maybe .015 per pass.
