Effective July 1, 1959, all calibrations in the U.S. customary system of weights and measures carried out by the National Bureau of
Standards will continue to be based upon metric measurement standards and, except those for the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey as noted below, will be made in terms of the following exact equivalents and appropriate multiples and submultiples:
1 yard= 0.914 4 meter
1 pound (avoirdupois)= 0.453 592 37 kilogram

It follows that your inch is derived from the meter and is equivalent to exactly 25.4mm by definition. So anything that isn't already metric by design on the Tormach is already metric by definition

Interesting. 1100M, 770M, 440M, and 8L.

That is a whole stable of new stuff! Haven't heard a peep of a 440M or the lathe.

As was I. I was hoping for a longer bed, doesn't need more horsepower for what I do. 8" between centers with the 5C and 4" between centers with a 3jaw is extremely limiting.

Well, there's the servo spindle. And exactly what I was thinking based on power requirements. The 770 gets a 1.5HP servo. It says there's no direct retrofit for the existing Series 3, but there will be a servo motor upgrade package. If there's anything I'm interested in, it's that.

EDIT - Ok, misunderstood. Bummer. I guess only Servo axis.

I misread this part out of context and assumed they were talking about the spindle motor:

My guess is that it is for the mill, stand, and enclosure but no PDB or ATC. If the PDB is still $1.2K then a $20K mill is a bit much to handle. At least they mentioned the a la carte part so hopefully a bare mill is a lot closer in price to current.

Note that the new 2018 trademark is for a 15L lathe, and IS different than the 2016 trademark for 15L SlantPro
So I have hope that a lathe with some more Z travel might be in the works.

I have a PCNC1100 and if the Slant Pro had 4 inches more travel I'd have ordered one the day it was announced.

Looks nice! I hope they improved coolant drainback. I also wished they would have used real way covers. I hate the bellows as they trap all kinds of swarf and coolant. Depending on as-run price, might pull me away from a used Haas.
