    Just a teaser

Driving the axis is the "easy" part. You'll need to add a few features to PathPilot for it to be useful. For example a C-Axis DRO and Work Offsets:

A means of jogging is also essential in my opinion. I wrote my own Shuttle component to replace the stock code.

Although Tormach went to the effort to personalize my Shuttle with my name ("Step" ) I decided I could put it to better use.
    Perhaps not for the fainthearted.

    Hello TurboStep

I am also thinking about setting up a C Axis for a PathPilot controlled Denford NovaTurn lathe.
Can you share any info on your conversion?

    Thanks,

Very cool, always a fan of your work.
Are you controlling A axis tilt? Or maybe some other top secret synchronized setup?

Thanks MD, you do some pretty cool stuff yourself!
As with (too) many things I'm working on, it's still work in progress. I'm up to the point where I believe I have all the necessary changes to set-up and control a C-axis stepper from g-code running on PP, but the axis hardware still needs some work. PP requires quite a number of changes in various places so it won't be realistic to share any code (just in case anyone is about to ask). My next step should actually be fairly easy, I just want to mount a stepper motor on my standard 4th axis to make sure everything plays well together. I have some harmonic drives ready to create a more usable 5th axis but that won't happen for a while.
I'm also working on a new probe system (yet another project!) and I would like to create some routines to automatically set up all axes with respect to each other - I think this would be a great help. I don't see any major issues getting 3+2 axes running now, but what I'm really interested in is TCP but that might take a little longer. Fortunately I'll be retiring very soon so perhaps some of these projects might even get finished!
