If you can get a hand operated fret saw such as:
File:Fretsaw.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And hold it at a 13* degree angle-either right or left and stack your veneer on top of each other to cut through the whole stack at once-as in your background piece and another -they will fit perfectly inside one another and leave a crisp edge. It takes a little practice but you will get the hang of it pretty fast. It is fun to do and can become quite elaborate in detail.

    Have fun!

Have you thought of making a sandwich? Solid wood, plywood or fiber board above and below the laminate and then cut it?

Sounds like the veneer is being affected by the heat from the laser.

You could test your duration of the laser exposure, treat it more like a router taking small cuts rather than a laser scroll saw. Give it time to cool off before coming back to it.
