    Default Techno/ISEL questions - coupler/ hand wheel / Z axis spring

    1. Is there a reason the hand wheels are constructed around a ceramic sandwich magnets?
    2. The stepper couplers are the X rubber insert type. Considering replacing with the spiral variety. One had to be cut off after the small bolt stripped
    Thoughts, suggestions ???
    3. The Z axis is spring loaded which to me would make sense were it springing up but to me it appears to spring down toward the bed. Am I missing something?
Has something been rearranged before I acquired the machine? The way I see it, its appears to make lifting a heavy spindle more difficult rather than easier.

Again, thanks to all and apologies for the newbie intrusions . . . .

    Re: spring loaded Z
Just for reference, the Z axis ball screw has a spring loaded dust cover.
