Default How to remove travel stop post on Taig mill

I want to remove the travel stop post. I removed the cross screw completely, but I still cant get the post out. Does anyone know if this is pressed in, and needs to be removed by removing the table, flipping it over, and pressing it out from the underside? I hope not... Any ideas?

    Thanks, Nick.

Here is a photo of my old saddle( replace with ball-screw conversion)

Yes, it is pressed in but not extremely tight.
The pin smooth, not knurled . So a couple of light taps will get out.
The easiest way to pull the saddle off is to, first center the x axis.
Move the saddle to front of the mill, close to the y-axis stepper.
Remove the x and Y stepper motors.
Remove the 2 capscrews the secure the y-axis stepper bearing housing.
Now you can slide the Saddle with x-axis table off....

    Good Luck,
    Stuart

Thank you for the info. Before I saw your reply, I had found another thread that said taking it out is like pulling teeth, and if you do take it out, you have to plug the hole or the leadscrew will get full of chips. Thus, I decided to cut it off and leave its bottom installed.

ps, do you think the ballscrew was a worthwhile upgrade?

The other thread said to mill it off. I found that was not possible with a 1/2" end mill, as the spindle does not line up with the pin.

I decided to cut it with a Dremel. That worked well.

Interestingly, after I cut it off, my X axis was binding like crazy and the stepper could barely move. I traced it to the screw holding the pin in place. If I tightened the screw even slightly more than finger tight, it was binding bad. Loosen it a half turn from that point, and all was back to normal. I don't know what happened, as this screw was probably pretty tight before I messed with this whole idea of removing the pin. It works great now, but certainly a head scratcher.

the screw was probably pressing on the gib or it was distorting the aluminum and pushing on the gib
