    Default Stepper locks up

I am having a problem where my X stepper motor fails to feed under combined X and Y motion.

I diagnosed with some 0.33" cuts in cedar. I can easily feed at 20 IPM in either X or Y, but under combined motion as low as 8IPM , the X "locks up", making a humming noise a bit louder than normal operation, it'll stay locked up even if I let off the Y, and will only start back after a release/repress if the x+ button.

Before I go start playing rubrix cube with my components, anybody have a educated guess at which component it is? It's clearly biased toward the X, but only under combined load, so could it be the PS?

If it sounds like it's most likely a certain component I'd be happy to just try replacing that component, my tinkering time is going to be pretty limited for the next month or so.

    What control software?

Check your CPU usage when it's stalling.

UC100/Mach3, laptop has a high end i7 CPU fwiw

Also, it appears to be load dependent, doesn't happen if I'm not cutting

Sounds like a mechanical issue then.

I'd start simply swapping the X and Y driver connections ... you need some reference and if the fault stays with the x axis it's more likely to be the motor/mill end. If it swaps to Y then change the input side back and swap the pin assignment ... but I doubt it's the UC100 end.
