Deep Drilling on Citizen L20
Hi Guys. Anybody ever use the Z2 axis for T2100-T2300 on an L20 to drill back through the guide bushing? I am drilling a 6" deep hole and I'm trying to get a better result with run-out. My thought was to advance the drill (T2300), drill using the Z2 axis maybe an inch or so beyond the face of the guide bushing, then drill the remainder using Z1. Note sure exactly how to code it though.

What size hole? What material? I recently drilled a hole 5.25 deep in 303 ss. Can't remember dia. exactly, but was over .200. I can post the program if you'd like. Used Guhring drills - pilot drill, then long drill. When going to long drill, slow RPM, slow feed, no coolant. Once drill is in pilot hole, turn on high pressure, bring up RPM, and go. I used 2 or 3 pecks. I'll post it tomorrow for you. ------------------- John
