I recently found that SPOST Configurator is missing from SurfCam 2024. Looking back through various versions, I found that it the last version of SurfCam to include Spost is 2022.0
Has anyone else noticed this? Do you find that it is a problem for you?
SPost Configurator is actually a 3rd party software that allows you to create 3, 4 and 5 axis custom post processors for use inside of Surfcam. While I haven't used it in a while, I found it very valuable when doing work on various 5-axis machines.
For me it is a great loss and just seems like a marketing mover to force users to buy custom post processors, instead of creating our own.
Thoughts...?
I also noticed the lack in 2022 and the answer they gave me was:
"The Spost configuration was removed due to security reasons with Hexagon. It can be ran and distributed from a previous version if necessary, but we had to remove it from our release."
"We do not have a replacement solution for the planned Spost configuration yet. For now you will need to use the previous version."
I have not heard of any security issues with using SPOST Configurator. I am using the older version of from 2022. I think they just want to sell post processing software.
I am currently using the software for some custom 5 axis programming that I am doing. Once you learn it, the software is extremely valuable. I am making a lot of extra money using it...
