Just extend it with a rigid coupler.

Thats is not possible. I need a longer shaft to get a firm grip in the remote bearing. The shaft has round edges. This gives only 2mm contact area with the remote bearing (not shown).

If you pull off those pulleys first, there's plenty of room. But with that much sideways load on the shaft, it might kill the motor bearing or snap it. What are you trying to do here, exactly?

As you can se on the picture, there is not much space after the last pulley, to mount the extra bearing needed for support. If i could extend the shaft by just 4mm.

    Hi,
you cannot put a new shaft in a stepper, once you disassemble it you'll wreck the magnetics.

I think Awerby is right if you had a longer shaft all you are doing is overloading it which will kill the stepper quick smart. You want a separate shaft with bearings at both ends and couple that
(with a coupler) to the stepper. The stepper will not respond well to axial or radial loads.
