Default Using 1 motor output to run to 2 steppers motor.

Hi,I have a breakout board that has 4 motor outputs, right now I have them running 2 motors for the y axis, 1 for the z axis and 1 for the x axis, each motor has its own stepper motor driver, I want to used 1 motor output to run the 2 y motors instead of the using 2 motor outputs right now, the reason being I want now to used the 4th motor output to run a rotary axis, currently the 1 of y axis motors runs clockwise, the other runs anti-clockwise. How do I go about getting the 1 motor output to run the drivers and in turn the stepper motors

The problem with that is that modern stepper drives are set to limit the current to the motor rated amperage value, for that individual motor.
So normally it is neither feasible or possible to do drive two motors.

It is easy, as you mention each motor has it’s own driver. Connect second driver to the same outputs from BOB as the first driver and change direction if you need to between driver and motor. It’s better to have identical driver and motor on the same axis and get additional driver and motor to run 4th axis.
I have two machines running in this configuration for the same reason, to have rotary axis… and they run just fine.
He thought you planing to run two motors from one driver - of course that is not going to fly …

Well he specifically said " I want to use 1 motor output to run the 2 " so rather confusing?

Hi, I want to use 1 motor output from the breakout board to run 2 stepper motors, that have each own driver.

I will have to go back at again, I tried it and all that happen was that the motor that was slave didn't move, only the main y axis motor move.

...wiring motors in series or parallel ?

It does create confusion when you use terms - “motors outputs”.
Some BOB have motor drivers on board and you get motors outputs and some have only outputs for stand alone drivers and some have both…
Can you show in pictures or a diagram to clarify your connections.

Parallel, this is the best way to go, from what I have seen online.

Corresponding wires from first Y driver to the second that’s all it takes, and it’s parallel…
And then you set it in Mach3 as you need.

Hi, giving an update, have gotten the power supply for the pc, system is up and running however I still didn't have the wiring right, forgot to switch the coil wires so that the second motor with run in the opposite direction of the main y motor, thanks the help.
