My Chinese YOO6040 has been working quite well the past year
after the multitude of out of the box bugs were sorted out ( with a big help from this forum !)
Now I appear to have my first hardware failure. - Loss of X axis - Motor just chatters
and doesn't move . Swapping with the Y at the control box showed X wiring and motor
are fine, so I am thinking theYOC335 module.
It failed after being on for about 5 hours at idle and a 1/2 hour of light duty.
Is there a "better" or just equal substitute?
Cannot find these on Ebay or Amazon.
And if I replace the one with a different unit (brand/model),
does that mean I have to replace Y and Z units
with the same?
Thanks in advance for any tip from those who have been there
already with these Chinese units!
First, check and inspect all the termination on the X axis...make sure they are all tight and done properly.
No neeed to buy the exact same driver. Just look for one that can handle the curret your steppers need AND have proper screw terminals , not those crappy JST connectors.( Thye were getting warm on my machine=bad.)
Hard to recommend a particular Brand except maybe Leadshine. ( I have no experience with other brands... )
Thanks!
I decided to pull the unit after confirming it was indeed failing,
Found the main chip was cooked. Ordered another YOC335
and a few of those chips. I should be good, No doubt there are better
driver units, since the rig was working dandy with those, I figure I will
stay with them.
