It looks like the HSS 86 is a hybrid stepper, and the HBS is a brushless servo. The HSS seems to be a 2 phase driver (stepper), the HBS is a 3 phase driver (brushless)
I see some youtube videos and one post here showing how it is possible to tune the PID with an RS232 cable on a HBS86 driver, but what about a HSS86? Is that possible? What is the difference between the 2 drivers?
Drivers I'm looking at here, HSS86 seems to be the only type easily available here.

Ah OK, any thoughts if it's possible to access the HSS86 PID tuning?
This video would indiate the HBS is a stepper.. I think a lot of Chinese sellers are adding 'servo' into the name of closed loop steppers
From what I can work out - mostly from an old post on here I think the HSS86 HBS86 are stepper drivers by different manufacturers
That's an interesting video. Learned a bit there.
According to the Leadshine web page, the PID is factory adjusted for the mating motor, but I suspect that by using the configuration software in the video, you could tune the PID.

Yes, the problem is in the UK the sellers have HSS86 and I don't know if it's possible to tune those...
For my reference this was from an old thread but I don't think the users posted anything else on this forum but one guy got some answers from the manufacturer
yes, I bought the JMC steppers with 2HSS86H directly from the factory. I have tested them only briefly. They seem to be good so far. Controller parameters are adjustable via an additional device (HISU) that came together with the motors. I will let you know as soon as I will test them in real load conditions.
I have decided for the JMC because the JSS driver (HSS86) parameters are not adjustable.
